Unlike most of the state, Northwest Indiana is actually a democratic area. Heavily industrial (steel mills and oil refineries) and high union membership.

Yes, outside of Indy, this area has elected Dems to Congress. Heck, even one of my farmer uncles was the county chair for the Dems.

On the upside, Trump and Netanyahu's adventures in Iran have been wonderful for renewables.

Every giant windmill should have Trump's face with a giant "I did that" sticker

You're way behind on the news. Trump has been blocking windmill projects all over. There won't be any windmills to put his sticker on.

It all part of the Republican plan. Keep electricity rates as high as possible. You know Trump and republicans are make a boatload on this. It’s just corruption and graft with tax breaks plus market manipulation right for the select few out in the open.

I am surprised Trump has not released the Epstein file and said yep I did this. MAGA and republicans would fall to their knees and sing songs of pray to Trump.

I really do not understand why Trump has not started up another Epstein club and given a NYTimes an all access tour.

The average price of gas over all months of both Trumps terms is well below Biden's average. Plus Biden's national high point was $5.02. Trumps peak is $4.55.

Gas is down.

Can you get into the details on what drove the gas price up in June 2022?

VIDEO: Explosion at Chalmette Refining sends flames and smoke into sky
CHALMETTE, La. (WVUE) - Fire crews remained inside Chalmette Refining on Friday afternoon, dousing tanks with water to cool them down after an explosion and fire at the refinery.

The explosion was reported at an operating unit shortly before 1 p.m.

Officials said no injuries were reported. Fire teams responded within minutes and got the fire under control in about 10 minutes, according to St. Bernard Parish President Louis Pomes.

Chalmette Refining has not said what caused the explosion or what was burning during the fire. The cause remains under investigation.

Chalmette Refining, owned by PBF Energy, is a 185,000+ barrel-per-day refinery in Louisiana that primarily produces transportation fuel- gas, diesel and jet fuel. Gone for at least 3 week more if main problems are found. Look for gas price to continue to climb.

That Biden $5.02 was a brief spike, mid-June 2022. It was around $3.60 a few months before and after that.

So far there's no sign of prices dropping with Trump's price spike.

Outside of that brief post-pandemic demand surge in 2022 it was $3.60 or less for most of Biden's presidency. Trump ran on lower gas prices. He PROMISED lower gas prices. As such it should be $3 or less. But instead it's over $4.50.

And it's not going to go down anytime soon. Trump's stupid war in Iran caused numerous oil and gas facilities throughout the middle east to get targeted and blown up by Iran. Those won't be operational for months, maybe years in some cases. Trump's broken peace promise and failure to put pressure on Russia over Ukraine has caused Ukraine to escalate against Russia, and they have been targeting Russia's oil and gas production and export. All of these things are putting pressure on global oil demand, and US oil producers are happy to sell to the highest bidders, meaning that even though our own production has increased (and incidentally, domestic oil production hit new record highs in production under Biden, contrary to MAGA lies) global demand drives our own costs at the pump up.

Trump has been a failure. It's all a cascade of broken promises and failed policies.

Nor does Trump even care about gas prices. He's currently lying about them. Aside, we're talking about a guy who has likely never pumped his own gas in his life.

Average gas price in Biden’s term was $3.50 to $3.60 per gallon with a peak price of $5 in July 2022. Though the monthly average in July 2022 was $4.88 up from $3.31 in Jan 2022. By Dec 2022 average gas prices were $3.20.

Trump had gas prices at $2.81 in Jan 2026 and because of his action has brought that to $4.55 with a lot of market manipulation reducing prices. Thats a 61% increase. The SPR give away is over and gas prices are not coming down because of physical shortages. The gulf infrastructure will take 5-7 years to repair. This means gas prices will continue to rise and prices will stay high for years.

Gas prices rose under Biden because of Trump’s Covid policies(work at home) drove production to a standstill. As the economy came back demand surged past supply.

Diesel under Biden $4.10 under Trump $5.95
Jet fuel under Biden $2.56 under Trump FBOs is $7.94

Oh and the fracking production in the US is on the decline because all of the tier one ground is in production or used up. This means even with higher prices of oil US will not produce more oil. The US has reached peak production under current technology.

Given that Iran will almost certainly be charging a hefty fee to transit the Strait of Hormuz from now on, gas prices will probably never come down to pre-war levels.

Gas was up under Biden because Putin invaded Ukraine.
Gas is up under Trump because Trump started a war with Iran.

These things are not the same.

I dare you to start a conversation at the gas station with the person at the next pump saying that. They’d look at you like you have three heads.
