Only two follicles measuring 7 days in of stimming

Anonymous
I am on day 8 of stimming and so far only have two follicles that are measuring. I have DOR and am on an antagonist protocol. I knew we would get low numbers, but I wasn't expecting this. How do I know if it's a good idea to cancel the cycle vs just going all the way?

Talk to the doctor- not the nurse. Your estrogen levels must be going up or they would have cancelled you already. Things that would factor into a decision to cancel- how many ivfs you’ve done and previous responses to injectables, are you paying out of pocket? Would doctor convert this cycle to an iui? Would they put you on a different protocol expecting better results?

It's not end of the road.

My sister got DOR (low amh) and went on stim IVF and only got 2 follicles and she got a live birth on her first cycle. Not that her experience could be duplicated on anyone else.

Now knowing my low amh I just went with Dominion Fertility, their logic is, $5000 drug x low amh = 2-5 follicles, and if you would normally get one free egg per period, why don't we just do natural cycle and skip all the drug injections. I've got a live embryo transfer last week and still waiting for pregnancy.

NCIVF at Dominion costs $5500 + $500 mock transfer (one time only).

OP here. THanks to both for your responses. I have a call into the doctor now and want to discuss with him. I have done IVF before, but it was 4 years ago and my numbers were very different.
Re NCIVF, good luck PP! My acupuncturist is pushing that option with me and after the stimming this time, I think I am ready to listen.

PP here re: NCIVF. NCIVF works only with one follicle and it has risk of ovulating before retrieval. The 36 hours before retrieval is a nail biter- is it still there? if ovulated, the doctors would do an IUI and give you some refund. Compare to that your 2 follicles are a luxury.

my diagnosis is the dreaded DOR.

All IVF whether stim or NCIVF are nail biters. I've done both and NCIVF is easier, but like PP said there is a risk of an LH surge and no egg. We got lucky with our first round of stim IVF and had our DD, but I had no idea how much my ovaries would poop out just 2 years later (Undetectable AMH) and FSH 48!!!! I'm not ready to accept DE so NCIVF is the only option for now.

Op here. Had egg retrieval this morning and it was just the two. None of the other follicles got close to being measurable. Will prob put Day 3 back in. We’ll see what happens.
