I am six month pregnant and for the last two days my 19mo old and I have cold symptoms: no fever, he has a runny nose that wakes him up at night and so he is more sleepy during the day but otherwise very active and his natural self, and I woke up with an itchy throat and feeling like crap (probably due to being awaken a few times at night). This is nothing to write home about and feel like just a cold to me (I'm not sure what distinguishes a flu from a cold, so I assume that I never had a flu...). The cdc says that if you're pregnant with cold symptoms you should see your doctor. I'm already feeling like crap so the last thing I need to do is try to schedule an appointment and go and wait for hours and I don't want to be given unnecessary medications just in case.... What did you do in the same situation? |
| I'd just call my doc to be on the safe side. And take natural (approved) remedies, like beefing up vitamin C and zinc intake, and hitting the chicken soup/broth. Swine flu can range from no symptoms at all to full-on miserable flu and everything in between. My coworker just had it with a high fever for one day, and a sudden odd feeling of great difficulty breathing, but that passed in a few hours. So for most people, it's not very dangerous. But it gets hinky once in a while. Stay in contact with your doc, be gentle on yourself, and just be aware of any breathing issues. Hope you feel better soon. |
| FWIW, I had the flu, and there wasn't much doubt I had it. The telltale symptom for me was the body aches. I was so achy I could barely move. And I didn't really have any nasal congestion at all. |
