How to handle children's well visit appt

Anonymous
I'm at a loss on what to do about my ds 6month well visit next week. Reports from other parents are that the doctor's office we go to is over run with sick kids. Don't get me wrong, the sick kids need to go to the doctor, but the office does not have a way to actually really seperate the well and sick kids. You sit on the opposite side of the room but that doesn't do much when kids are sneezing and coughing.

I don't want to expose my ds to all those germs but I also can't put off his well visit until flu season is over. I'm planning on leaving my other kids with a neighbor so that at least they aren't exposed. Has anyone else faced this dilema?

If you are that worried, try and schedule your appoint for first thing in the am.

Ditto...my ped suggested booking my baby's well child exams early to get an early morning appointment. You could also ask if they can take you back to a waiting room right away. That may be tricky for them - but my ped did it (without me asking) for my baby's 2 month exam.

My pediatrician has a well room and a sick room, but they also provide face masks for the parents in the sick room. Maybe you can bring a mask for you child?
