Thank you everyone for all of your helpful insights on this board!
My husband and I are considering adoption and I'm interested in knowing if anyone has done embryo adoption and wouldn't mind sharing their experiences? I searched the forum and while embryo adoption is discussed I couldn't find a directly relevant thread. Thank you! |
| I haven't done embryo adoption, OP, but it might be worth taking a look at Resolve's infertility boards - they were really helpful to us when we went through IVF and eventually surrogacy. They have a category for 3rd party reproduction (which covers embryo adoption as well as donor egg, surrogacy, etc.): https://www.inspire.com/groups/finding-a-resolution-for-infertility/?section=topic&topic-1704=1. Their search filter is also reasonably good so you can just look for the term "embryo adoption." I just tried that now and got back several thousand results so it looks like there's a good amount of discussion. And it's a really supportive environment, too. Good luck! |
Thank you so much! This is very helpful! |

Also check out www.fertilethoughts.com - another great online resource, with lots of discussion forums. Lifesaver for me when I was in the trenches.
Good luck! |
| Talk to an ART attorney. Meryl Rosenberg, Jennifer Fairfax and Diane Hinson all work in this area. We did a known donor and worked with Jennifer and Meryl but they handle embryo and egg donor cases too. |
| We adopted an embryo through Snowflake and wanted to do an FET through SGF, but they won't accept outside embryos so we have to look elsewhere. |
| We used Jennifer Fairfax. She was fantastic. |
| We considered this through Shady Grove's embryo adoption program but most of the embryos at the time we were looking were from couples that were over 35 years old and not PGS tested. After many failures of our own we did not feel too confident about what we saw and decided to stick with donor egg. |
when was this? |
| Somewhat off point, but, many of us who have successfully conceived with IVF have frozen embryos we will not be using and would love to adopt them out. My husband and I will soon be looking into how-where to do that right now. Though our embryos have not been genetically tested I am assuming that we will have to provide information on whether there have been successful pregnancies from embryos created in the same cycle, and that anyone wanting to adopt our remaining embryos will have that info. Following this string as I’m interested from the other side. |

Shady Grove calls it embryo donation not adoption. They do it "in-house" and it sounds fairly inexpensive. Here is a ton of information about their program (for potential donors and recipients):
