I’ve searched the forum and there’s lots of great reviews up until about 2015 but not a whole lot since. Are they still considered one of the better daycares in DC? particularly interested in the infant care. |
I used BHEE for backup care recently and I wasn't terribly impressed. I had trouble getting information from the director on a couple of things that shouldn't have been difficult. One thing I was told did not comport with what my kid told me. (I can't be sure his account is accurate and it wasn't a huge deal so I didn't push it, but it just seemed odd.) At pickup, the staff seemed fairly disinterested and I had trouble getting much information about what went on during the day. And they have no dedicated outdoor space and use only very small public outdoor space nearby (including sometimes the little plot of concrete outside Acadiana) for outdoor play, which would be a real concern for me beyond infant care.
But, having said that, my son was fine and safe there. Plus, the backup care is largely segregated from the full-time classes. It is possible those teachers are better. (I have no idea how they do or don't rotate staff.) And maybe the director is more responsive to full-time parents, or I caught them on a rough few days. So, take this for whatever it is or is not worth. |
Also have only toured and then also considered it for back up care, but went to the Eye Street and L street locations instead because I was similarly not impressed with the tiny cramped rooms, little light, and no outdoor space. It just seemed sad to me. I would hands down go to L street over East End if location isn't an issue. We have neighbors though that used it without complaint, but their child was older (2+). If that location works, consider Bambini if you can get a spot. |
We were offered a position at Bright Horizons L Street but read some negative reviews on here that put us off. I guess everyone has a different experience. |
I also was originally put off by L st reviews but remember people are more motivated to post if they have negative opinions( Thinking they are providing a Public service by warning others) - which is helpful at best. However myself & the other parents that choose to keep our kids at L st continue with our lives
& generally nevertheless post reviews here We have been with their infant room for 6months and we love it! No one takes the time to post positive reviews so sorry I’m replying to an old thread. I’m sitting here thinking how smooth transition back to work has been and overwhelmed (yes I may have cried) at how caring her teachers have been towards my baby girl and I. Some of the negative reviews are unfounded, (like the one about the infants moving rooms) once you see how the staff rotations work and the drop off process then it makes sense . The teachers took the time to get to know my child, gave me regular updates and guidance on what she is struggling with, new skills acquired. They helped her integrate to a better nap and eating schedule . They worked together with me to get her on solids and weaning to the bottle etc etc. Every morning they ask me how her night or weekend was. They change her when they see me coming in after work to help me get the better end of the commute. They have endearing nicknames for all the infants, the list goes on. My other friend is (with another BH Branch) and we both visit unannounced often. The infants mostly happy & calm. (aside from the nap time when they’re all self settling... or when it’s that end of the meal /need to go sleep time) even then the infant room has a calm atmosphere. So there, if you get a spot here see for yourself. The teachers are amazing, and so good with the babies. I get overwhelmed how much they care and love the little ones. |
Typo. *nevertheless s/ be never

Since 2015 they have had a revolving door of directors so, no, they aren't as good as they were before. |
