Does anyone have any info about or experience with St. Ann School?
Thanks. |
| They have been around forever, with some very devoted families. Small school, one class per grade. Not well-off financially, and have current trouble filling classrooms. Other schools in Arlington (St. Thomas More and St. Agnes, notably) are in better financial straits and have a larger, more diverse student body. I personally have experience with St. Agnes and can tell you it's a lively community with some excellent teachers. St. Agnes was awarded the Blue Ribbon School award this year, placing it in the top 10% nationally. Class of 2009 from St. Agnes went to Visitation, Madeira, Holy Child, Gonzaga (with major scholarships, and this is not the first year), Georgetown Prep, Thomas Jefferson (yes, little parochial schools can get kids in there), O'Connell, Ireton, and the excellent local public high schools. Not for those who want to drop and run (not be involved). Fun parent community. Check it out. |

bump. Anyone with kids at St. Ann's in Arlington? Thoughts on academics, why you chose it compared to public elementary?
also, can your child a different parish school than the one you belong to? |

PP, as far as attending another parish school, yes you can to to a non-parish school. Especially schools like St.Anns and St Charles, which are underenrolled. Schools that are at or near capacity like St.James in Falls Church, may be a little more selective, but I do know there are non-Catholic students there, as well as from out of Parish. Call the school for details.
One of the PP's is right about St Anns, I have heard throughout the years that the Pastor (I know that is not the right name, but I am blanking on what to call the head of the parish - bad Catholic!!) has not really supported the school. STM was in a similiar situation years ago until they got a new Priest. They are now growing. But I have heard St Anns is a really nice school. |
