DH and I are planning a getaway for our 6th anniversary (was supposed to be 5th...but that's another story...) We want to use miles to fly to the Caribbean for 3-4 nights w/out our DD who will be 2 when we travel.
We are looking for: BEAUTIFUL beaches NICE hotel (doesn't have to be "stuffy" fancy, just nice) GOOD food We do NOT want: Kids everywhere (is adults-only our only option?? SOME kids are fine, but I don't want to be cannon-balled at the pool...) A long, complicated journey w/ several layovers, ferries, etc. (1 layover or ferry is fine - we'd like the trip to take only 1/2 day) To spend more than $400/night on the room We originally booked w/ The Regent Palms in Turks & Caicos, cancelled for personal reasons, and are now having 2nd thoughts about rebooking there. Many of the reviews I read said that it was overrun with little kids...how can people afford that? But I digress... Any other suggestions? Thanks so much! |
| Caneel Bay. Fly to STT and pay the $100 or so for Caneel's ferry so they will handle all your luggage from the airport. |
| Go the French Caribbean; the food is better. You can also try the Ocean Club resort on Paradise Island, Nassau. Amazing beach, quiet, beautiful grounds, good food, and very elegant. It was the former home of the A&P heir Huntington Hartford, and is just lovely. |
| Cusinart on Anguilla. Direct flight to St. Maartin and then ferry to Anguilla. Anguilla is a very special island, stunning beaches and great restaurants. |
| T&C is great. There are sections of the Grace Bay Club that are kid free. Why don't you look into that? |

My friends went to Cuisinart with their son and loved it. Even though they brought their son, I don't think there are a lot of people with kids at the resort. |
| LITTLE DIX BAY Virgin Gourda - Amazing!!!! |

| Aruba doesn't have many kids, beautiful beaches, no hurricane threats, and some really great restaurants. |
| Check out the Island Outpost resorts in Jamaica. We stayed at Jake's for our honeymoon (also stayed at The Rockhouse and Idle Awhile in Negril which were both wonderful). The Caves is fabulous, and I'd love to stay at the others some day. These are smaller botique hotels, which I find to be more relaxing than the big resorts. While kids are allowed (I think), there certainly weren't many there when we were. |
We have been trying for a few years to get a res. at this place. Always booked! Also - way, way over 400/nite. Try 1800/nite..... |

Anguilla is a wonderful place for a romantic vacation. The beaches are fabulous, the restaurants are great, and the island is very safe and friendly. The Anguillans are very proud of their lovely island, and justifably so.
Have stayed at Cuisinart, and it is great. Other great places on the island include Cove Castles (which is a combination between a beach house rental community and a hotel), and Cap Jaluca (sp?). Can't say enough nice things about Anguilla. It's expensive in high season, but great deals can be found in the late fall/early winter and late spring/summer. |
