Breast pumping and traveling

Is there any way to bring breast milk with an ice pack on board flights even when flying without a baby? I am traveling for 48hrs and plan to pump and just hate to waste all that milk...Thanks.

Absolutely, it's an FAA rule that you can do this. You may want to search the archives for "flying with pump" or something. I found the details on the FAA website and brought it with me, but luckily all the security people were completely fine with me bringing the pump, icepack, and milk through security.

Yes, you can travel w/ BM without a baby. I'd go to the TSA website and print the directive to bring with you. You used to not be allowed to bring on board BM without a baby, this policy changed about a year ago.

Exactly what PP said - bring a printout of the TSA policy with you, just in case. And I wouldn't bank on the icepack coming through - I've had problems with that - so I just carry a bunch of ziplock bags and fill 'em up with ice at any bar or restaurant in the airport once I am past security. Happy travels!
