DD submitted to JMU (Honors), VCU (Honors and Guaranteed Admissions to Medicine), and GMU (Honors).
VT rep to NoVa high school also strongly recommended to submit via EA. I am now hearing that EA application reviews are more stringent than RD. True? DD has strong GPA 4.01, ECs, volunteer hours, but SAT is only 1280. Many APs and honor classes. Concerned that DD will get pushed to RD process. |

Get a real problem.
|
| If your kid gets pushed to RD, then the result will be the same as if she had just applied RD except she has the work out of the way earlier. |
| Op, her decisions were reasonable .... so, what's the problem? There is no problem. You're worried, we get it. Parents worry. Nothing new here. Nothing special. |
Seems like you have one...like nothing else to do than reply to someone else's post... Get a life! |
| Isn’t the outcome the same? So why all the drama? |
| She'll be fine. Enjoy the holidays! |
I get it, OP. Ignore the snark. You and your DD have been hoping to get some good news early, rather than having to wait until the Spring. Your DD sounds like a really strong candidate. Good luck!

| At a few selective schools, early action is where they cherry pick the top kids and defer the rest. At most schools, it’s just an earlier decision and isn’t any more difficult. |
| My DD has also applied to many colleges EA because she felt it would be easier to get in this way. Or at least show the colleges that she is really interested in them. Is that not true? |
+1. Does your DC have safeties? If these are it, and you’re done the homework, then it should be fine. |
| *You’ve* |
It is not easier to get in EA. You just getting an earlier result. Some have higher standards in the EA round, some don’t. You have to check each schools process. UVA for one, says their review is the SAME regardless is applied in EA or RD. If you think your first semester grades senior year would help, apply later. |
| VTech is ED and requires a commitment so think carefully before doing it. |
Hadn’t thought about it before but given that there are far fewer EA apps than RD it stands to reason that the admissions staff takes more time with EA apps. |
