Can Kent Garden kids go to Haycock GT center?

We live in McLean and Kent Garden is our base school. I understand KG kids could go to Churchill road GT, but can they also go to Haycock GT after test? We actually live much closer to Haycock then Churchill road. Thanks.

No. CR has been the assigned AAP center for KG for years and that’s unlikely to change (Haycock already has more kids than CR).

It goes back to when Churchill Road received a ten trailer thingie and was underenrolled and Haycock was over enrolled. They had the option to move Franklin Sherman to Churchill Road orKent Gardens. Since the then and current school committee member for Darnsville was a neighbor of Franklin Shre,an, she orchestrated it to have Kent Gardens go to Churchill Road, despite all logic pointed to Franklin Sherman being the one. It makes even less sense today now that Cooper AAP students stay at Cooper and no longer go to Longfellow.

Kent Gardens is about twice the size of Franklin Sherman. If Churchill Road had more space, I can see the logic behind reassigning the larger school there.

Half of Kent ga4ens is the French program and they often stay at kend Gardens, at the time the numbers were not far off.

It is ridiculous. Franklin Sherman is a split feeder and some students end up at Cooper/Langley so Churchill Road is much better for them.

About 85-90% of FS is Longfellow/McLean.

No, we live right near you. It’s annoying, but KG now has a really robust level IV so most kids aren’t going to a center
