Graceland

DH and I are planning a quick weekend trip to Nashville, Memphis and Graceland. Any suggestions for activities, restaurants, etc? Specifically if you know of any discounts I'd appreciate it!

TIA.

Downtown Nashville is a lot of fun-2nd street area.

If you are going to G'land be careful. That area is dangerous. Beale Street is fun. A must for BBQ is Neely's. A must for ribs is Charlie Vargas' Rendevous. It is near the Peabody. For burgers, Hueys is super yummy!!

I grew up outside of Memphis and completely blanking! Do you have hotel reservations yet?

Really PP? Because I heard that the Beale Street tourist area can be dangerous from my relatives. I've been to Graceland and it seemed so suburban to me. You park at the visitor area parking lot and walk over to the house for a tour. Hardly a simmering pot of thievery.

I'd stay at the Peabody downtown (or at least visit it to see their ducks) or in the Georgetown/east Memphis side of town at the cheaper hotels there. Corky's is the best for BBQ.

The area Graceland in is rough. I grew up right outside of Memphis and would stay with relatives directly in the city on weekends. Beale Street isn't that bad. But like other tourist areas, you have to watch yourself. I have never had any issues and have been going my entire life.

Germantown? If my memory serves me correctly, there is no G'town in Memphis.

Germantown is a suburb of Memphis.

Ah yes, Germantown. Sorry - wrong DC-related name. I always say the wrong one. I knew it wasn't Gaithersburg!

OP here, I've made a reservation at the Springhill Suites in downtown Memphis.. I'm a Marriott junkie and can use points for a free night. Getting a car to drive from nashville to Memphis, didn't realize it was 3 hours (thought it was 2). Only 1 night in Nashville, but flying in/out of there. Got a great deal- $50 each way from Dulles.

Yes, it will probably take more like 3.5 hours. I lived 1.5 hrs outside of Memphis. I fly into Nashville sometimes because it is much cheaper.

You got a heck of deal. I never get that lucky! I fly into TN about 3-4x a year!
