Anyone out there working through the TEPSLF process? I just received word that my loan service company sent my application to the Department of Ed for final review, but that I should expect a wait of a couple of months before a final decisions.
Curious if anyone else is working through the process and what you're hearing from your loan service company. |

Ugh...OP again....the title should be Temporary Expanded Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
This is additional funding in last year's budget bill to provide student loan forgiveness to individuals in public service jobs who are in the wrong type of repayment plan. |

To get TEPSLF, you have to have been rejected from PSLF only because you were in the wrong repayment plan--and the payments you were making under the wrong repayment plan have to be equal to or greater than the payments you would have made under an IDR plan.
The agency really exploited Congress's lack of familiarity with PSLF to screw this thing up. I hope it works for you, OP, but there's not a lot of good news here. |
OP here. Thanks. Yes, I've received my PSLF rejection already, so I'm in the TEPSLF review process now. It definitely seems like a convoluted process and straightforward answers from Fed Loan and Dept of Ed are few and far between. |
| Is your current monthly payment in the wrong plan higher than what you would have paid under an IDR plan? You may be the rare person who qualifies! |
