I'm planning on taking my kids tomorrow. Just wondering if I should be expecting a line up. Is it better to go earlier. I have my own appt about 20 mintues away at 10:30 and was wondering if I went for around 9 if I would be able to make it for my appt. Or should I just head over there right after my appt? Thanks!
I would be going to the one on Leesburg Pike. |

OP - I posted this under another topic:
I went to the clinic in Fairfax (on Old Lee Hwy) this morning. I got there around 9:00, got a number and didn't leave until 1:30. They put a sign on the door around 10:45 saying the clinic was closed as they had reached their max number of doses. They say that they have 250 doses, but it's really 250 families as there were many groups needing more than one vac (i.e. multiple eligible children, pregnant mom + toddler, etc.). I was number 178. There were 3 nurses administering the vaccines and it was S-L-O-W. I am a county resident, but they did not check my ID. They do ask for address and ask which county you're from, though, and a person checks over the form before you get the shot, so maybe if I'd put down an out-of-county address, they would have questioned me. I was also at the clinic on Saturday and this form was check more throughly than the form on Saturday. |
| Oh my. It seems they are quite long. I guess we will try to get there earlier. |
| I got to the Fairfax clinic on Old Lee Highway right around 8 am this morning and was out at noon. By that time, my daughter was in the 130s on the list. One of my coworkers went to the Falls Church location at 7:30 am and was out around 11 am. Today was the first day for children above 36 months (up to 5 years of age), so that may have been the reason for the surge in attendees, but I agree with others who have posted that it was a very slow process |

My experience Monday was much better. We arrived around 11:30 and were out by 1:30. I was around number 140. They check your residency for statistical purposes only - I am a Montgomery County resident and had no problem being vaccinated. I actually called ahead to ask about this and was told it is a Federal program and therefore I did not need to be a Fairfax resident.

| I would add that for the last hour that we were at the clinic in Fairfax, they had us wait in the area where shots were being given and the children witnessed other children as they screamed and cried during administration of the dose. My daughter is usually fine with shots at our pediatrician's office, but had a complete meltdown by the time it was her turn today. |
| I went to the one in Reston with my 3 year old son. We got there right at 8am and were #149 and 150 (I also have a 5 month old. We did not get our shots until 11:30. It was definitely S L O W! |
| I also went to the Reston clinic this morning, got there at 7:45 am and was #86/87. Got the shot at 10:15 am. |
You must have been standing right near my friend - she had a similar experience this morning at Reston. She said they gave out #250 (the last one) at 8:45am. But its still a several hour wait to get the shot. At least those arriving later know right away that the shots are all gone. |
| In Springfield, over a 2 hour wait. Slow process and disorganized, especially compared to the mass vaccination last Saturday. |
| Mt Vernon ran out at 10am today! |
| Is it safe to say that Fairfax is the most disorganized but that the District is probably the most organized? |
| It certainly appears that way! What I don't understand is why Fairfax only allocates 250 shots per day. That favors people who can get to the locations in the early morning. Why not just give them all out during the listed clinic hours of 8-4:30, or why bother posting those hours if they are going to run out anyway! |
| I got to the Fairfax clinic at 7:15 am...we were 37 in line and out by 9:15 am...it was organized until the end...the actual room where they give the shots is pretty chaotic!! |
| A 2 hour wait! That is not good in my opinion, especially if you have a toddler with you. |
