Is nasal vaccine safe for 2 y.o.?

My ped is saying that he will administer the nasal spray to 3y.o+.

But another dr. is administering the nasal spay for kids 2 and over.

Would you give the live vaccine (nasal spray) to a 2 year old?

Yes.

What is the doc's reasoning for not giving it to a 2 YO?

Not sure. I'm calling tomorrow. But just knowing that MY dr. doesn't believe in it for 2 yo worries me. I could force her to give it to me but it still makes me pause.

The cdc says it's safe for 2 yo. Gosh, I do feel uncomfortable though... I wish I could shake this off.

It may be because the dr. doesn't think 2 year olds have the capability to sniff in order to get the vaccine. Some will be able to and some won't.

I agree with this poster. I think it has more to do with the child's ability to follow directions than safety.

My DD has some developmental delays and I'm worried she won't be able to follow directions well enough to receive the mist. Do kids have to be able to sniff while the spray is being administered?
