Health and Medicine

I was all ready to get my 2 year old kids immunized (but then they ran out of the shot). I made a few calls to trusted friends and family who are doctors. Here's what's confusing me: my sister, a Dr.(med peds), highly recommends vaccination. Says the benefits far outweigh the risks. But my best friend, whose husband is a Dr. as well is not sure if she is going to vaccinate her kids. Her Ped is not "pushing it". Hmmm. Why the hesitation? I guess it really doesn't matter since we have no vaccine available in our hospital...
Please weigh in. What are your thoughts? |
| Not "pushing it" is different than not recommending it. I know some docs who just say we think it's a good shot, but give it if you want. They don't like to feel pushy. Don't you trust your sister??? |

My sister and I have had different tolerances for risk on other medical issues. So it's not a question of trust, it's a question of comfort...
To be honest, they were not recommending it. I just didn't want to spell it out in case it gets the dr. in trouble... |
| I think you need to make your decision based on the medical information. There will be conflicting points of view on everything. |
Thanks. It's just that I'm not comfortable and wish I could shake that feeling off. Ugg. Overthinking it perhaps

Ask your friend if her doctor gave her any reason for specifically not recommending it. |
| I did but she didn't go into details. I think the Dr professionally gives it out but on a personal level, has opted not to give it to her own kids. |
Why are you being so vague? It's not like you have to name the doc or anything... |
