Looking for skills clinics for U14 players in Bethesda
They are rec level, moving to classic, so not super skilled

Please recommend anyone/any place that has been particularly helpful

I recommend you give a call and talk to Ali at Pivotal Play. They have winter clinics and she is a terrific local small business person.

My son's soccer club, Achilles FC, is offering winter training that is open to non-club members. The focus on player development and technical skills has been amazing for my son and I would strongly recommend the winter sessions.

How are you liking Achilles? Do you have anything to compare it against?

Love it! And yes, son played previously with another club. The focus of Achilles FC is really on player development, technical foot skills, and possession-style play, and on playing to improve play, rather than to win games. Also, all practices are academy style, rather than small team. Happy to share more offline if interested.

Is Achilles only boys?

Achilles is not only for boys. My son has played with them for a few years and the team and coaching are great. The coaches often say that they would love to have some competitive girls join and would absolutely play them based on ability. For the time being, some girls come to training and summer camps and are treated well based on their ability. Some are very good.

Achilles founder is married to former women's college soccer player and has two young girls of his own. High-level girls soccer at Achilles is only a matter of time.
