| I asked my dr today if I happen to get H1N1, if I can get the anti-viral (tamiflu) while breastfeeding. She said she wasn't sure, asked another dr and then said not to but didn't really give me a concrete info on it. Just curious, for those who have been exposed while bf'ing, what did you do? |

I had flu and my doctor said I could still breastfeed while I was on Tamiflu. In order not to spread the virus, she asked that I pump and have someone else feed baby. She also wanted me to be extra careful on cleanliness.
Also check out the LactMed database from the NIH. http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sis/search/f?./temp/~OM867J:1 From what I read, sounded like it would be OK. Also. My four month old was put on Tamiflu, which is a higher concentration than in breastmilk. |
