| When I was a kid, we would get a few colder/chilly days and then that was that, summer was a wrap. But now, it seems like every year summer heat lingers and alternates with fall weather so right now we have summer and fall/winter clothes in the closet. I thought last week, it was getting chilly and I took the fall stuff out of the giant trash bags in the closet. Then it was 82 degrees again and I didn't want to look stupid overheating while wearing fall colors/ heavier fabrics when it is still a sundress and sandal day. Around when do you usually just bite the bullet, put away the summer clothes and deal with it when the rogue 80s day comes along after 2 weeks of low 70s? |
|
I don't. I keep shorts and pants in my dresser. I have all my shirts hanging up. I still wear short sleeved shirts with cardigans in the winter and go swimming at indoor pools.
Aren't clothes all wrinkly and musty if you had them in trash bags? Why are they in trash bags in the closet? Why not just fold them and put them on the shelf? |
Op here. I have a lot of cotton sundresses, skirts and linen pants. I'm not wearing those after the temps drop and I don't have a large enough closet to keep fall/winter and spring/summer at the same time. As for the trash bags, the clothes are in space bags that I have compiled into 2 large trash bags in the back of the closet. They smell fine when I get them out because I usually launder before putting them in the bags. Again, not enough space to keep all these clothes on the shelf. |
| This year, tomorrow will be the last warm day. No highs above 66 in the 10-day forecast after that. |
| I started transitioning over my closet last night and will finish tonight. I have enough clothing that I keep year round (jeans, flats, tees, most of my workwear that's not floral or tweed) I can make it work. I was tired of looking at summer clothes, I also don't mind a few days of minor discomfort with this heat, it's supposed to break soon. |
| I have a huge closet so I don’t put clothes away for the season. Never did. |
| I unpacked my sweaters earlier this week. Will do the rest this weekend. I just wait until it seems like the weather has really changed. Some goes in the attic, but some is just swapping the order of clothes so the winter ones are in the front. Also try to get rid of things I didn’t wear in the past season. |
| I did a few weeks ago. And regret it. |
| I haven't yet. I'll probably wait until the temps are consistently cooler. I only swap out shorts and heavier sweaters, though. I currently have enough fall/winter clothes in my closet to get me through a week or so of chillier weather. |
| This is the wrong year to ask! I'm in no mood to wear really summery things, but have no need for warmer clothes yet, so it's been in limbo. Normally I would have swapped some things by now. The real transition is when the winter coats and accessories come out. |
| Right now I still have my summer stuff in my main closet - I think that I normally would have made the transition by now, but this year I might not make the move until next week. However, I just move most of my out of season clothes to a closet in our spare bedroom, so it's not a huge problem to go to that closet if I need some warmer or cooler items. |
so helpful. |
| I have a small closet and don't put clothes away for the season. The trick is not to have a bunch of clothes that you never wear. I have about two weeks' worth of outfits for each season. |
Ugh you poor thing, you have to repeat clothes? I just throw out each outfit after I've worn it or donate it if I feel like helping the little people |
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
