| Is it at all related to a therapist? Just curious. |
| I’m pretty sure it just sits there doing nothing. |
|
| A therapist is trained. A life coach is anyone who thinks they give good advice. |
Ha! Yep- coach not couch
|
|
Best typo ever.
Truth. |
| My life couch came from my aunt's house, where it did a lot of nothing/ hosted me while I watched movies. Now it's here with me, and it still doesn't do much. It smells though. |
Responding to myself. It also listens to me rant sometimes, which is valuable. |
| It's great to lie on after a long hard day. Until the springs give out. |
|
SIL is a life coach and had to do some kind of certification.
I’ve not seen her in action but from what she’s said, it sounds like she just tells people who are unable to make decisions on their own what to do. Basically like having your own personal cheerleader to stand by and say “you’re doing great sweetie!” |
| Life coaches take your money. |
Ding, ding, ding! |
|
A good life coach can help you identify goals and form a plan with you to achieve them. They are not therapists at all but rather someone who keeps you on track and keeps you accountable.
I don’t get the hate from the other posters. My life coach really helped me when I was stuck a few years ago. I lost 50 pounds with her guidance, went back to school and now have a career I love. |
People are mocking OP because she wrote "couch" as in "sofa." But I agree life coaches are mostly dubious. Glad it worked it for you though. |
| Life coaches might actually be more useful than a therapist. Therapists aren't really supposed to tell you what to do. I wouldn't know though, since I have not used one, but it would be cool to be one without having to actually have a degree in anything. |
