Does DC have thimerosol-free flu shots for kids under 2?

Anonymous
Anyone know, or get this for their DC? If not in DC, anywhere else?

Not yet. I was there on Sat and asked. They only have the one with trace amounts for pregnant women.

No thimersol-free version for kids under 4 was available at the DC clinic that I went to on Saturday. They won't give the thermerosol-free vaccine they have for pregnant women to kids under 4 b/c the dosage is too high. (They get a 1/2 dose under 4).

They don't have FluMist at the D.C. clinics? I understand that doesn't have mercury. (Although I guess you have to be over 2 to get it?)

Yeah, I am having a hard time finding this. For kids under 2 (who can't get the mist), it seems that no one has the single dose injectible syringe (thimerosal free). Clinics have ordered them, but it seems none have gotten it in yet. If anyone finds it anywhere, please do post where!

Fairfax County (I saw it at the falls church clinic today) has it.

Is that true about Fairfax county? I called earlier and they said they did not have it?

I just called (4:25, Tues, Oct 26) and the nurse said they do not have it -- they DID order it but they do not know when they'll get it.

Ugh. I guess I will wait then. Is anyone else waiting?

Yes--we are waiting.
