| DS’s u11 team is playing futsal this winter. He is the main keeper on his team. He is prone to finger injury so we are always buy gloves with spines. I just read today that most futsal keepers don’t play with gloves. What does your keeper do? |
You can play futsal with gloves, just don't use the ones with expensive latex that will tear quickly. There are goalkeeper gloves for hard surfaces, not as sticky, but more durable. |
| Futsal ball is harder. Shots are taken from from close range. In my experience finger injuries are more common than in soccer. |
| Futsal GK is great training (shot after shot). My DS (u13) does it every winter and it really shows when he's back outdoors. |
Does he wear gloves? If so, his regular soccer keeper gloves. My sons had a broken finger and currently has a sprained finger so I feel like he should wear gloves since the ball is so hard and they kick from up close. But last winter I noticed the coach didn’t have the kids wear them. |
Yes, he typically wears gloves in futsal. He owns them and puts them on himself (ie, the coach has nothing to do with it...it's his choice). |
My kids all do a lot of futsal. Most futsal goalies don't use gloves, and if they do, futsal goalie gloves have no finger holes. https://www.amazon.com/uhlsport-futsal-indoor-roughprofile-goalie/dp/b00466f1sk?tag=indifash06-20 I think the logic is explained nicely here: https://www.fifa.com/futsalworldcup/news/y=2016/m=9/news=the-great-glove-debate-2836173.html |
