Connections or prestige of school

Everyone trying to chase that prestige/elite school for their DC. Does it matter? Your kid could go to a top 50 or top 100 but with connections, you could line up that internship starting freshman year that your DC would be much better than the kid who went to top schools but couldn’t get an internship.

I’ll bite - i presume parent connections. I steer internships to friends of DC who are not in ivies - the lower the ranking, those are the ones I pick!
