| What DC area private schools have the lowest tuition? |
What grade level and are you including religious/parish schools in this pool? |
| Brookewood and Avalon |
| Why do we refer to schools as ‘privates’? Makes me think of ‘parts’. |

About $15,000. "Rather than putting tuition toward building and maintaining expensive facilities and grounds, we use the city as our campus, focusing our budget on hiring the best full-time and part-time teachers." |

Our Lady of Lourdes at 9K for K-8 for Catholic students with discounts for additional siblings etc. But their classes are bigger than public school classes.
|
| The Catholic schools are fairly cheap. Blessed Sacrament is 10.5K. |
| OP here, looking for 5th grade |
They aren't that low. Most of the k-8 Catholics are around or under $8-10. |

Maret is by no means cheap, but among the non-Catholic private schools its tuition is notably lower than many (based on tuition amounts contained on their and other schools' websites). Yes, differences of a few $1000s per kid per year is a drop in the bucket for some families, but not all, and it certain adds up, especially if a family has multiple kids in private school. E.g, a full tuition family with a child in lower school and a child in middle school will pay @$14,500 more per year in tuition at Sidwell than at Maret.
Maret: Lower (K-4): $33,660 Middle (5-8): $36,500 Upper (9-12): $38,740 Sidwell: Lower/Middle/Upper: $42,372 St. Albans: Grades 4-12: $45,752 GDS: Grades Pk/K: $35,946 Grades 1-5: $38,423 Grades 6-8: $40,074 Grades 9-11: $41,416 Grade 12: $41,651 Field: Grades 6-12: $45,942 Potomac: Grades K-3: $35,450 Grades 4-6: $38,100 Grades 7-8: $40,600 Grades 9-12: $41,100 |
| Parochial schools, by far. |
| Friends Community School, K-8, around $19K/year. A bargain and an all-round great school! |

Bishop John T. Walker, Washington Jesuit Academy, Washington School for Girls, San Miguel School, Don Bosco Christo Rey School are all free (plus Gallaudet's schools but I assume your kid's not deaf) so that is the absolute lowest. The following are under 10K:
St. Francis Xavier Academy Lanham Christian School Silver Oaks Cooperative School Calvary Christian Academy National Christian Academy Dupont Park Adventist School St. Augustine Catholic School St. Anthony Catholic School Christian Family Montessori School Capitol Hill Learning Group DC Village Calvary Christian Academy St. John the Evangelist Sacred Heart School Grace Brethren Christian School Our Lady of Mercy School The River Farm Cooperative Temple Baptist School Holy Redeemer School St. Bernadette School St. Francis International School Rock Creek Christian Academy St. Thomas More Catholic Academy St. Bartholomew Catholic School Rivendell School Not an exhaustive list - other smaller, church-based schools are on the less expensive side, especially Catholic parochial schools. Anyone who answers "Maret" when asked for the least expensive school in the area is hilariously living in a bubble. |
| Generally Montessori and Catholic parochial schools are cheaper. There are some exceptions, like Barnesville, but that’s way far for someone in DC. |
Both Montessori and Catholic schools typically have some very large class sizes. |
