SWW Admissions Test

Anonymous
My DC is in a non DCPS middle school. Geometry is not an option for 8th grade. I see that the admissions test for SWW for 9th grade includes Algebra 1 and Geometry. I assume this will be a disadvantage in taking the test, as Geometry is an option for some DCPS 8th graders? Does SWW take the incoming school math program into account?

There is not a lot of geometry on the test, but there are a few questions. Yes, it advantages students coming from schools that offer Geometry to middle schoolers but you can get around it by acing every other part of the test. Know that SWW does not curve or take one's limiting school's course offerings into account.

If your child wants to go to SWW enough to do some basic prep, have them learn some Geometry on their own via Khan Academy.

The majority of Walls 9th graders take geometry so it's really not a huge deal.

Does anyone have any other recommendations for prep for the SWW admissions test?
