Is Volt worth the trip?

We have a night out without the kids. Thinking of something different and heading up to Volt.

Thoughts?

many would say yes. tom sietsema just gave table 21 (the chef's tasting "room") at volt rave reviews.

We just went, and I'd say it's worth it. We have eaten in a lot of great places in NY, Philly, DC--it's in the top 10. We did the chef's kitchen (not the 21-course thing, but 6 courses + cheese).

Is that one of the Top Chef guys' place?

yes, Bryan Voltaggio

I totally think he's hot, by the way!

We are also contemplating the "road trip" out there.

Thanks, 16:09. FWIW, I've never been impressed with Zaytinya (the other current Top Chef's local place), so I'm glad to hear this one speaks better of the quality of chefs on the series.

I looked at the Volt menu and was not really excited about eating anything that is being served, but I loved the menu at Kevin's Woodfire Grill in Atlanta and will definitely stop in there on my next business trip to Atlanta. Go Kevin!!

I am 16:09 poster. He is so hot!! reason enough to go!! lol His brother is pretty cute himself! lol

Mike Isabella (Zatinya) I really wish he would be sent home. He only cooks mediocre meals it seems-nothing too creative! My Top Chef pics are the Voltaggio Brothers and Jennifer. I really like Kevin too so i am torn on the third person.

I think the top talent is Bryan V, Mike V, Kevin, and Jennifer, by far.
Mike Isabella (Zaytinya) is a sexist pig. I like the restaurant, but won't go back there as long as he's in the kitchen.

I'm the PP who recently went to Volt. The tasting menus were terrific, and there were lots of "little extras." Very thoughtful food. If only Bryan had been in the kitchen, I could have seen his hotness close up! (He was out of town due to a death in the family.)

I am the 16:09 & 20:56 poster, PP I am glad you enjoyed the restaurant. I was thinking of taking DH to Volt for his Birthday! Yeah, too bad Bryan was out of town.

If you're not up for the ride and haven't been before, try Komi. It's amazing.

Just went to Volt. Very good - similar to Restaurant Eve. Not and to go up on a weeknight either since we could go in the HOV lanes n 270!

My DH just called to book table 21 as a surprise for my bday in December (I heard their call back on the answering machine) and it is booked until March!

21:37 poster here, and I agree about Komi. Best meal I have had in DC. Unbelievable. Can't wait to go back.
