Ordering pictures from picture day... Need hack.

Anonymous
Argh... Ordering pictures is such a scam. Cannot just buy the size or package I want without paying an arm and a leg. With three kids, Picture Day sure adds up. Any hacks on how to minimize the scam?

They know, they just know, we can't resist pictures of our adorable Larlas and Larkins, and they have is over a barrel...

I buy the digital image, and pick only one. Done. Print as many copies as you need, in whatever sizes you want.

I wait until the proof comes home. Then if I actually like it, I order the smallest package and google coupon codes for the company.

Unless you want huge pictures, you can buy just one 8x10, scan it on a good scanner or take a picture of it with a good camera, and do the same thing. A single 8x10 is usually cheaper than the digital image.

Wait till it comes home. I usually only buy one digital copy online and its the cheapest option.

I do not buy anymore. Only get the class photo. But my kids’ pics are always awful through the school picture.

Just don't buy them. We take tons of great pictures of the kids in interesting places doing cool things. Who needs school pictures anymore.

If you’re cool with ripping off photographers. Don’t pretend you’re doing anything else.

Buy what you want and no more. Nobody’s forcing you to buy anything. Or just get out your camera and take your own pictures of Larla, for free.

There are almost always other (smaller or a la carte) purchasing options online. Don’t feel locked into the preset packages on the form.

I didnt know you could do this but you can buy just the CD which is super cheap. They have it as an add on so I thought you had to buy a package then you could add it on. But I have a friend with a kid now in middle and a 1st grader and she said she has always only bought the CD. Genius.
This is not ripping off a photographer, the companies are ripping us off, the cost for public school photos is double what we paid for pre-k pics.

Total rip off! Our class photo is $10 and used to come with the minimal package. Now it is separate. That was the one "free" thing because it takes all the kids to have that product! We should all refuse to let our kids be in the class picture.

It is a fund raiser for the school just like the over priced cookie dough/wrapping paper etc. Buy it or don't.

I just go online and buy the 2- 5x7 sheet. It’s like $10.

Who do you think pays the photographer? The company.

It’s stealing. Don’t do it. Take your own damn pictures if you don’t want to pay the professionals.

How is it stealing to buy the CD if the company sells the CD and you pay the price they ask for it?
