spacing of seasonal flu and h1n1 flu shots

Anonymous
Is there supposed to be a certain waiting period between getting the different types? I understand it's necessary to wait 30 days before getting the first and second shot for each type, but what about the time between the two different types?

For example, my daughter has an appointment to get a H1N1 shot and then 10 days later is scheduled to get her second seasonal flu shot. I have a call in to our pediatrician, but thought I'd check with other moms too. Please advise!

Thanks!

There is definitely a waiting period. Sorry - but I don't recall what the waiting period is. And it may only be for the kids who get the mist (activated virus) vs. the shot (deactivated.) Good luck.

I believe the waiting period is for the mist only, as PP said. 4 weeks, I think. The shots can be at the same time or spaced at any interval.

You are suppose to pace the nasal sprays, i.e. if you get two nasal sprays they should be a certain time apart (10-14 days I think). However, the flu.gov website says you can get both shots on the same day, h1n1 in one arm and seasonal in another. I believe you can also get 1 spray and 1 shot on the same day as well.

Basically they just don't want you to get two 'live' sprays on the same day.

My 4-year old had the nasal flumist vaccine on 10/8 and the injected H1N1 on 10/21. He had to get injectable h1n1 since he had rec'd the seasonal mist less than 4 weeks ago. If he had the injectable seasonal, he could have had mist h1n1. Two injectables (seasonal and h1n1)=no wait time. One mist---have to get the 2nd as an injectable...or wait 4 weeks for another mist.

confusing, I know.
