possible to use maternity leave for mini-vacation? where?

So we have a DD who will be 34 months when DD#2 will be born in early December. We have saved our paid leave we have not taken a vacation this year. Are we crazy to think we could take a newborn and a toddler on a quick getaway during 8 weeks of leave? Any suggestions of where to go?

Sure you can get away. I'd go closer to the end of your leave. Depends on the time of year. I wouldn't fly but that's just me. You could rent a house at the beach or the mountains, like New York area. Or you could go to someplace like Williamsburg and do the theme parks for the older one and put the infant in the stroller or wear them on you or Hershey. I think it depends on your interests and what you wan to do during that time.

My husband and I (we both had 12 weeks leave) took our 3 year old and newborn for a week to the beach when the newborn was about 10 weeks old. We stayed with family so it was nice. I would recommend a relaxing vacation - not one where you have to be places at certain times.

I'd go to Bethany Beach and get a place at Sea Colony. Totally cheap in the winter and you will have a kitchen. You probably won't get out that much, but it will be fun anyway.
