Looking for a nice cabin/ cottage getaway in driving distance, not too expensive

I want to surpise my DW and take her to a cabin/ cottage kind of deal within driving distance. Money is a bit tight now, so I can't afford the really luxurious places that cost a lot. Greenbrier is over our budget. Can anyone suggest something very charming, scenic that stay within a reasonaly price range and is in within a couple hours driving distance?

How about Berkeley Springs VA? Cute but small town, lots of inexpensive spas. Looks like a lot of cottage rentals for under $200 a night.

My husband rented a cabin in a state park in West Virginia as a surprise for me when we were in grad school and it was great. Pretty rustic - but we had fun hiking, cooking and just hanging out watching the deer.
