| Are absences for private school high school interviews considered excused by MCPS? |
| There is no excuses or not. An absence is noted regardless of its for a doctor, interview, or incarceration. You don’t need to tell the school anything specific. Just note “appointment” when signing back in for the day. |
No |
| Who cares. You are leaving this crappy district fo r private school. Best decision ever |
Yep. She is leaving the envy of the area to pay for an inferior product. You know you all envy MCPS. |
When you arrive late (as opposed to being absent all day) some schools require a doctors note. This happened to us last year. |
| PP again. In fact, they are less strict with leaving early so I would try to schedule at end of day or miss entire day. |
| It will be unexcused but most teachers will allow makeup work anyways so it is a mute point. They will only follow up after a certain number of unexcused absences. There is a certain number that you automatically fail the class in HS. |
| No. |
Who is you all? I am the PP and I have kids in MCPS. It sucks |
who cares. in public school you pull your kid out whenever you need to. have you checked out the HS kids graduating with 10-30 unexcused absences a year? just get some BS extra credit, everyone passes (if they don't drop-out on their own accord). No reason for the double standard for attendance. And look, fruity MCPS now has every single holiday off imaginable and your kid has 4 days week half of the fall semester. OF COURSE YOU CAN GO DO A 2-3 HOUR APPOINTMENT. |
| My son missed 5 days in 5th grade for shadow days and interviews. I wrote the reason on the note and nobody gave us a hard time. He was allowed to make up all work. It might be designated unexcused somewhere in a computer but it had no direct impact. There were several kids who were in the same boat. |
