Help me get these contractions moving and or water broken!

I have been having very mild contractions (more like light menstural cramping) over the past 2 days. I'm ready to get things moving!! Ideas??? (39 weeks, btw)

Primrose oil capsule (broken) rubbed inside your vagina walls. Walking. Sex (with orgasm).

Water breaking just puts you "on the clock" in terms of doctors wanting the baby out pronto - do everything you can to get the contractions going for real before your water does break!

Get a pedicure!

Reflexology. Contact Jennifer Moore for a session:

I would also schedule a prenatal massage, which won't necessarily get things moving, but will relax you and feel nice!

Lots of walking.

I went into labor the day after I took a warm bath and my mom swears she thinks that get things going.

Honestly, I did EVERYTHING I had heard about to get "labor going" starting at 38.5 weeks. My daughter was born 3 days after her due date and I don't even remember that last week. Enjoy and let nature take its course--your baby WILL come.

100% agree with this. You hear of the "24-hour clock" but the doctors who were on call while I was in labor (there were several b/c I was there long enough to go through several shift changes) seemed more inclined to make it a 12-hour clock instead. I did end up with a c/s, mainly due to malpositioning.

Good luck!

Castor Oil, best thing I ever did. I had two friends that had done it before me with great results so I tried it. Here's what happened. Around 9am went to CVS, took a swig and chased it with diet coke. About two hours later I had to poop and that was about it from 11-3. I was so annoyed thinking it didn't work so I did it again around 4 just before my husband got home. Around 5 I thought what I was feeling was gas pains from pooping. Took a hot shower. Sat down to relax and water broke. We went to the hospital at 7 and I was 9 cm. Son was born 42 minutes later. BEST THING EVER!

Beware, the castor oil can also make you crap and puke all night long with no sign of labor at all.

I too, tried many of the methods - walking, sex, evening primrose, spicy food, eggplant parm. The only things I didn't do were accupressure and castor oil. I was going on 1-2 hour hikes for the 10 days before I delivered. Baby came when he was good and ready -- 41 weeks, 6 days. All that activity, helped with labor though -- only 8 hours from start to finish.

Hi OP, I feel your pain. I'm 38.5 weeks, 3cm dialated, 50% effaced, and lost my plug weeks ago. In the last 24 hrs, I've been going in and out of regular contraction patterns but to no avail. And I've tried absolutely everything to get this little one moving along. So please do report back if anything works for you.

Get into a state of deep relaxation - which means stop stressing about this. Take a long warm shower and get a massage, turn on some good music and light some candles. Eat a great meal and drink lots of water.

Have sex with orgasm and nipple stimulation.

If you are more than 50% effaced, the castor oil may work (doesn't work well for first time moms). Take 2 oz. in the morning and go for a walk to get it into your digestive system. Don't take it at night because you'll be on the toilet when you should be sleeping. If still not in active labor 4 hours later, take 2 more oz.
