temporary in-home care until we win waitlist lotto?

It looks like our daycare choice won't have a space for us for a few months after we need it. Any advice on what to do to bridge the gap? We have an infant and are in north arlington. What did you do to make it work? We're on 8 waitlists, btw and thought we had this all figured out long before our baby was born...best laid plans and all that.

I found a home day care I liked, put down a deposit, and kept looking for other centers. Fortunately I found one just at the right time. It's one I wouldn't have looked at previously (didn't like the look of its playground equipment). But my DC's been there for almost 3 years now and we've really liked it.

If you are only going to use the home provider temporarily, please make sure you tell them that up front. It's not easy in this economy for anyone and as much advance notice as possible so that she can be covered is the best way to go!
