Don't want to be the "poor" relative

Anonymous
So my best friend and my sister both incidentally married rich. I did not. Their lives have changed and I am still striving away in my middle class existence. I really don't want it to, but its giving me a complex. Being around them is too painful. Worst of all my friend is a braggart and my sister tiptoes around me because she feels bad.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I'm starting to think these threads are started by Russian bots.

explain some of the differences, if only to feed our idle curiosity?

What's your HHI? How rich are these others?

Your best friend sounds like a jerk and your sister sounds like she's your emotional prisoner. Get right with the life you chose and stop striving, period.

Sounds like there are solids reasons why they aren't good friends for you (the tiptoeing .. and especially the bragging). It doesn't have to be about the money. It can be about communication. With your sister, since sisters are for-life, have a short, very direct conversation -once- and ask her not to tiptoe around you. But then YOU have a huge responsibility to not make this a thing.

Haven't you been paying attention? There is no middle class.

Since when is the only path for a woman to wealth marriage. Stop wallowing and do something about it.

What exactly can I do to get into a well paid profession?

Buy a time machine, and study harder in school. Or go back to school and do well.

And while you're in school, look up what "incidentally" means.

Go back to school at night for an advanced degree. Try to start a business out of your home at night and on weekends. There are a thousand things you can do if you are willing to make the effort.

Tell your sister not tiptoe around you. Tell her you love her and are not jealous and can handle hearing about all of the awesome stuff she does.

We are in our late twenties.

One is a SAHM mom of two married to an older millionaire.

Sister is married to a high paid professional who also happens to have tons of family money. Sister herself makes decent money but wouldn't afford her current life if it wasn't for her husband.

So, one brags a bit too much and the other specifically avoids the issue and you don’t like either option. What is left? What would you like them to do?

Think about the 95% of people who have less than you and be grateful for what you have. Consider doing some volunteer work in an impoverished area and your current feelings will quickly disappear.
