I don't understand what happened with the woman at the pentagon? She made the whole thing up? Was it for attention? It's people like that who are making this a worse situation. What the hell is wrong with people.

From my understanding, she did get sick but lied about being in Africa or around anyone from Africa. I'm guessing she is mentally unstable and wanted the attention. Kind of like the guy who sneezed on the plane and said he has Ebola. Every time something comes up that causes mass panic (bombs on planes, illnesses, etc) you always see a few of these people crop up. Likely they have always told small lies to get attention and no one has picked up on it before.

No she was very sick and got on the wrong bus(a shuttle bus vs metro bus). The report of being from Africa was made up ....much like your post.

Yes there are people who like to stoke the flames and cause panic. Much like the second poster here.

Maybe the woman was out of her mind from illness. I had a high fever once and thought I had gone home, but I was still at work in the break room.

I can't imagine being delirious and claiming I just went on holiday somewhere specific, but I can absolutely imagine being delirious and just answering "yes, yes" to everything, because I couldn't process the questions. I can see how that would go badly.

Ma'am, do you need help?

Yes

Are you sick?

Yes

Do you have a fever?

Yes

Are you throwing up?

Yes

Do you feel faint?

Yes

Have you recently traveled?

Yes

I wouldn't jump to blaming her until we know exactly what was said.

I'm not sure who they could seek compensation from. The CDC? Seems unlikely

Dr. Gupta is a neurosurgeon...

Ebola on a cruise ship would be very scary.

Why would Obama appoint a LAWYER as an EBOLA CZAR?
I thought that since this is a biologic problem, it would have been nice to have someone in charge who knew BIOLOGY and had some administrative experience, not political.

Maybe a head of an HMO, an ex military health administrator, a public health official from a large state or county.

They don't get it, this is serious. Not a prize position to be handed to someone to enhance his or her career.

I completely agree.

Not sure I agree. Seems like this position is primarily going to be about coordination, and a former Chief of Staff knows coordination. And like it or not, Ebola is becoming increasingly political, so it really needs to be someone with some political acumen as well.

Again, there are political and administrative people who ALSO know science.

BTW, there is a 90% chance that ebola will disappear so Ron won't get blamed. But he will take credit and have another feather. BUT, there is a tiny chance that his intellectual deficit could get us into trouble and he will be rightly blamed. He will learn about taking jobs that he is not qualified for.
