I still think ECNL comes and takes the rest of the top girls programs in GA, but if they don’t do it this year, it may be the beginning of the end.

They must’ve really pissed off MLS/US Soccer with that BY/SY crap
Meh. They are divying up EDP level more than poaching each other. The giants are eating the ants, they aren't Godzilla battling yet.

Seems real late for MLSN to be recruiting for a brand new league that will double the size of their fiefdom and will start in about 8 months when ECNL has been recruiting for months and is set to announce their new entrants in a few weeks. Based on timing, might be a Hail Mary play by MLSN.

You're trying to make it sound like MLS doesn't have a huge stack of requests from ECNL clubs looking to join and have maintained the stack for several years.

They do not. No ECNL club will put in for MLSNext until the last day at the last minute and only if they are told they are in before it goes in. There is no stack. Could clubs move -- sure but nothing for MLSNext is on the table at the moment.

Take off the ECNL goggles for a few minutes and look at what MLSN + GA are offering.

With MLSN a club could double or triple the number of boys playing. Switching from ECNL girls to GA might not be ideal but you're likely not going to lose that many players.

This is how clubs think when deciding which leagues to participate in.

Yup, if people already think that ECNL boys is weak and not able to bring in talent, they'll jump at the opportunity to bring in MLS where they can have MLS2 and add talent to third team of players hoping to break into the second team. Especially if you are middle of the pack on the girls side of ECNL. GA will grow and improve, clubs are smart and will take on the opportunity if it presents itself.

So then MLS Next dilutes and gets weaker. And round and round we go.

How exactly does MLSN get weaker?
The weaker clubs/teams will be MLSN 2 and the more competitive clubs will be MLSN.

Also, does GA now get GA2 or does DPL come into play?

I would think that GA2 or some form of it would come into play as the league grows. I guess we'll have to wait a few more weeks until announcements start rolling out. I imagine by the end of February many should be out in time for ID sessions/tryouts.

That’s true. I feel like some big moves are happening. Curious how this will impact the current youth soccer landscape.

Getting the different tiers aligned/branded seems like hard work.

All we know is that the clubs with GA/MLSN have no chance of ever coming to ECNL hahahaha

I don't think you grasp which clubs are looking to go where.

I can guarantee you that no clubs with mls/ga are leaving. they have locked themselves into that alliance and will make it work for them.

As for the clubs with boys and girls in different leagues…

To all the ECNL people sweating the MLS/GA alliance.

You might want to check out who is in charge of youth development at NWSL and where they came from. (Hint it's US Soccer)

Announcements are starting to happen...
https://longislandsc.com/lisc-announces-its-next-big-score-with-the-expansion-of-mls-next-to-include-all-six-youth-age-groups/

This isn't really a new expansion LISC previously had U13 and U14 MLSN now they have U13, U14, U15, U16, U17 and U19.

What's interesting is below...

"Today’s news follows the announcement on December 17 of the formation of a strategic alliance between MLS NEXT and the Girls Academy (GA), a leading youth development platform for female soccer players in the United States. MLS NEXT and the GA will collaborate on membership opportunities, event integrations and technical standards to enhance player development throughout North America."

Do you know what a coach educator or staff instructor is for US Soccer? It’s the staff that teaches coaching license courses. You should look up the number of coaches and the levels they coach at that are instructors for US Soccer. It’s not what you think it is.

Both my DD’s coaches do the same thing. One is RL coach and one is ECNL. They teach licenses.

What’s the link between US Soccer/NWSL/GA?

Seems we might be on the cusp of a new league, especially for girls where maybe the best of GA, ECNL and USYS will become members.
