+1 People seem to like Bastien, but he is rightfully honoring his commitment to his own team thru July. Good idea to fix the short term, announce something definitive and execute it for the Spring, and then give Bastien the space to build his staff and be ready for next Fall. |
|
Unlikely he has any effect on the staff in 1-2 months time from when he actually gets here.
Maybe for 25/26 season. |
FCV had become a great club for serious U13-U19 girls who wanted to play in college and possibly beyond. TSJ killed it. Sad. |
VRSC has Christian Cziommer as the GA director. He's more than qualified. Former FCV TD for 13 years and UEFA A license. |
Maybe he is good administratively, organized, good communicator, is able to create a plan and implement it. Completely different roles than being a coach. Not defending or saying he will be good but people need opportunities to showcase themselves. Otherwise it'll continue being the same old names revolving in same position, just different places. Good for him. |
And Marvin Johnson, who coached with CC at FCV for 7 seasons, played for Luton for 15, and ran Luton’s youth academy for 5. And Jack Stefanowski, who is an extremely experienced goalkeeper coach who spent time at FCV, DC United Academy, Washington Spirit, and Loudoun United. VRSC unquestionably has the core coaching staff and training facilities necessary for a nationally competitive GA program. The only question is whether a large block of current FCV GA players will move there immediately so VRSC can field competitive teams beginning next season, or if CC and MJ will need to build the program from the ground up as they did at FCV, which will take several years. |
| For $4500 a year I'd expect better. |
This. |
I agree with you, in theory. But there’s one big unknown and that’s how much autonomy will they have to run things as they believe they should be run? The club’s TD has an enormous ego and it’s hard to see him suddenly saying “Ok, all these FCV guys are here now so I’ll stay out of it and let them run things”. That would absolutely be for the best but does it seem reasonable to expect that a guy like that would keep his distance from what is unquestionably the biggest thing to happen to the club that he started (especially when it’s clear that it wasn’t a result of anything he did other than hiring the right people)? For the sake of anybody who’s willing to take the chance, I hope so. Time will tell. |
But wait, there's more! For the price of admission, you get two league games against a shell of a TSJFCV club and two games against upstart SYC!!
I really do feel for the girls who may end up facing up against their old, long-time mates twice a year. I mean, they go through some of that in HS soccer, but still.

| Why did BP jump ship immediately after CC did? Why would they drop their teams in the middle of the season? What was occurring behind the scenes they weren't telling us about? |
+1 |
| ID Sessions now posted on FCV website for next week along with new directors |
Probably saw a sinking ship. FCV's problem has and always has been it's footprint as far as facilities goes. It's a for profit company that doesn't have its OWN facility to operate out of in Loudoun. |
This is when poor Bastien will realize hardly anyone currently rostered on a GA1 team is staying at the club. Adam seems to be the main reason why no one wants to stick around. St James staff and Adam maybe in denial of that but they will quickly learn when they officially send offers that less the 15% of each team is staying at their club. Still waiting for news on other coaches they are hiring. Still waiting for news on what the “merger” is with a local organization that will give them field space. |
