Freaking out about having lake water pushed up my nose

You are fine. My family swims in lakes and rivers all the time and no one has had an issue yet. We have riverfront and all the kids jump off the dock in the river all summer every year.

OP here reporting back to share that I am 10.5 days out from my lake encounter and symptom-free, so it is fairly safe to say that the amoebas did not get me I will, however, be looking into getting therapy for my anxiety as well as practice better water safety in the future.

Yeah!!! Now don’t go swimming in lakes again!!! Stick to ocean water or chlorinated pools!
