PSA: for the love of God send out your laundry

The idea of someone’s hands all over my CLEAN clothes makes me uneasy.

I send out my laundry. I live in prewar apartment building in the city. Laundry's in the basement and it's a PITA. You guys saying people who use a laundry service are lazy are being a bit myopic. Get a clue... not everyone lives like you do. Having my laundry done by a service is worth every penny to me.

This is beyond ridiculous. You aren’t even “doing laundry”. It’s not like you’re scrubbing your clothes on a washboard then hanging them to dry. I have five kids and a DH who wears three sets of clothes every day. You literally put the clothes into a machine and it does the laundry for you. How is this difficult?

No way - as strange as it sounds, I love doing laundry!

I am very, VERY fussy about my own clothes. My "rules" for what to put in the dryer and for how long would make anyone's head spin. I could never write it all out. And I just don't mind doing laundry that much.

Yep. This is me.

Wow no thank you. That would cost us like 100 dollars a week. Our kids do their own laundry though, I might have thought it was worth it with little kids if we had made as much money then as we do now.

We have somebody who comes and cleans our home for 140 every other week and that is so much more bang for the buck, plus the cleaner really needs the money.

+1. Lots of people in the city send out their laundry or even *gasp* go to the laundromat. Not everyone lives the same or has the same conveniences in their home. For an ostensibly "urban" site, the posters here show over and over again how provincial they are.

We send out twice a week.

Isn't it a hassle to drop off and pick up? Serious question.

My service picks up and brings it back.

Not gonna lie, this sounds kind of magical. Thanks for the rec, OP. As a formerly broke single mom who had to drag a preschooler with her to the laundromat years ago, I cam definitely appreciate this. You don't want to send out your laundry? Don't.

I think the title of this thread should be “PSA: for the love of god outsource your most hated chores if you can afford it”

I have too much invested in my clothing and other textiles to let a stranger cook them on the highest heat setting and damage them in other ways in an industrial laundry setting.

Same!!!

We use Happy Nest. They come pick up a bag of clothes, towels, and sheets off our porch and bring them back clean and folded. But Happy Nest isn't paying me, I'm sure there are plenty of other options.

I love doing laundry. I love folding, putting away, all of it.

Plus 1 bajillion!
And that doesn't apply to just laundry. It's mind-boggling, sometimes.
