One of the reasons they didn't need a second high school was because they had a plan to use virtual education and put students at different sites to access it. Hmmm, I can see how well that works.... They should have built the second high school years ago. They screamed about it being an equity issue except the parents on the West End asked for a second high school. I guess they can't possibly know what they need. Choosing NOT to do the hard things is a recurring theme for the SB and ACPS central office. It's interesting to watch some people realize it this year but it's been going on for decades. Yes, the equity arguments ultimately result in the failure to take any actions or make bold decisions. The board totally misapplied the concept of “equity” to keep one school. So, now more students will suffer with an overcrowded high school, all in the name of (pseudo) equity. Such a shame for Alexandria City kids. How Alderton and Hutchings can talk about equity (misapplied or otherwise) while sending their kids to private schools is amazing to me. |
What is this referring to? Chapman didn’t join the group till April 4th, a day before your post. And he hasn’t said a word since he joined. And he wasn’t the first council member to join. |
Yeah, I think PP above is in the minority. I live on a MacArthur neighborhood where lots of parents are pretty supportive of ACPS (despite what a disaster that project has become). A larger group was out talking the other say and most are pretty appalled by both Hutchings and Alderton. |
