No. Not a Disney story, which were mainly adapted from other stories. PW was distributed by Buena Vista, which is a Disney company. Disney studios actually struggled during this time, PW was a lifesaver for them. |

Because many people love to see a rags-to-riches, Cinderella type story.
In this case, a poor + uneducated girl has to be a hooker in order to support herself. She lives in a dump and does not even own her own car. Enter handsome, wealthy Prince Charming. He is her ticket out of her dark existence & will offer her a brand-new life where she can improve her life for good. |
It's just a grown up version of Cinderella or sleeping beauty or pride and prejudice |

| Ya’ll need to dig deeper. It’s not Cinderella, where the only change was clothing and station. It’s a My Fair Lady story in that she is taught how to fit in with high society. |
