Family with multiple young kids FYI.

Why not live in Arlington? Why not pick FCC or Marrifield over Pimmit/McLean and drive on Rt50?

I'm guessing housing costs? My property tax assessment went up 11% this year over last. Thanks Amazon.

Yeah, we are trying to buy under $1m. Would love Arlington but not a lot available for 4 br in our price range.

This.

Too much “we gotta turn the state blue because they’re morally righteous”

*property taxes and tolls go way up*

“Omg why is this happening!”

Also, what is the obsession with the people poking fun of ones who have a big house in the exurbs?? Insecure much?

THANK GOD. Much better than the alternative.

It takes money to have nice things. Not everyone wants to blow up the deficit.

Just means more cars on 50, 29, etc

Welcome to the area!

Balancing commute, schools, and living space while staying in budget requires trade-offs. We decided it was worth it to live in a 3 bed + den townhouse instead of having a bad commute, but only you can decide what works for you.

It’s why suburban sprawl is so crazy now. A standard basic house in Arlington is $1 million for a shitty tiny house built in 1940. But it’s all about location. Either pay $1million for a tiny shack in Arlington, or move south/west and have a nice house and a bad commute.

Yeah there’s no way getting to dc from an exurb like Reston takes 10 to 15 mins. You can barely get to DC from Rosslyn in that short of a time. Yet alone way out in Reston.

Bullshit. You can't get from Reston to Vienna in 10-15 minutes during rush hour. It takes longer than that to go the 2-3 miles from my house to the Vienna metro.
