Stigma attached to black Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon?

I drive an M1 tank. Terrible gas mileage, bad acceleration, hard to park, but safety first.

M1a1's actually accelerate astonishing quickly from a stop if the driver keeps the turbine spooled up. You can't keep them spooled up too long because your EGT will rise very quickly, but for a few seconds it won't hurt anything. But an Abrams can keep up with most cars from a standing stop until about 30 mph.

Here's the only "stigma" from my POV as someone living and working in the DC metro area for 30yrs:
~80% are "for hire" transportation
~10% are USSS, DHS or some other agency security vehicles
~10% are actually owned by soccer moms or other people with multiple kids

That's all I think when I see them.

Besides - you said it yourself just now: they'd only need it "a few times a year". And if owning it is the only way to achieve that (as it seems to be, since you can't tow with a rental) , then those few days a year justify it. Because there's no other alternative besides NOT owning the boat.

So how much of their lifestyle do they need to change to meet with YOUR approval?

Suburbans/GMCs are unreliable. Good luck buying a used one. I hope you have a relative who's a mechanic.

Compared to the average maintenance costs on a European car or SUV, the full-sized domestic SUVs are a bargain. They're basically a pick up truck platform, and you can get a GM pick up fixed literally anywhere, and for much cheaper than euro imports.

Or you could just get a Toyota Sequoia, and forgo repair costs almost completely, lolz, because there is virtually nothing out there that is more reliable than a Sequoia.

Bullshiat. The Sequoia was one of the worst vehicle purchases I have ever made. Transmission failed and the build quality wasn't up to snuff.
