Why do people grocery shop with the whole family?

I love it when it’s a local couple showing the out of town guests around Wegmans like it’s something special. It’s a GD grocery store! They are everywhere! Stop standing 3 people wide and move!

I am not talking about someone running in for a few items after work. You can tell those. Someone alone in wegman’s on the Sunday before Christmas is sad even if they have family.

Lmao. This is so dumb.

Usually it is minimum five people, three generations. My God, don't they have grocery stores where you people come from? It is not a field trip - leave half of them at home. I can understand one or two of you trekking out, but more than that is ridiculous.

And some said it was “cultural” and another that it was a family outing place. And then a post about wanting to get out of the house as a family. So lame. It’s a grocery store.

The one in Gaithersburg? If so- this was us! We blew into the store around 1pm and left a trail of chaos in our wake. Sorry bout’ that

Fairfax.

And to be clear - I don’t care that the kids are there. I have 3 of my own and just feel relief when I hear someone else’s kid acting crazy that I do not have to deal with. I honestly don’t understand it. It makes life so much more difficult. It isn’t some fun bonding experience. Just leave the kids at home and get it done!

Because I am not insane and leave the kids at home when possible so as not to make life more difficult than necessary

This is my thought every weekend. ..so annoying and inconsiderate. I mean both parents and the kids. Blocking aisles etc. It’s ridiculous and shows how needy and codependent oe maybe controlling these people are. But it’s this area...

Some of my friends chose poorly and ended up with men who "can't" grocery shop, "don't cook" and whine like little weasels when they have to "babysit" their own children. Barf.

And then they want to commiserate with me about husbands and I'm like hell naw mine is a real human grownup.

Oh I should add they have to go to the store together every week because their DHs are so flipping useless. They chose poorly.

I can understand grocery shopping with the whole family. Meaning, DH, DW and younger kids. But, I can't understand extended family shopping at Costco! Especially Gaithersburg Costco. And it is as if any manners are thrown out of the wind, by kids, grandparents and parents. Like Hunger Games.

There is a Wegmans in Gaithersburg? I know there is one in Germantown, I don't think there is one in Gaithersburg.

My now-ex spouse hated any attempt at divide and conquer. For her having to do chores or run errands on her own felt like rejection. I like the grocery store so I'm fine going alone or with others, but right before a holiday or storm I would choose to go by myself so I can be as efficient as possible.

+1...hate whole families at the grocery store. It's bizarre. I love going alone. Gives me a break from the chaos at my house.

It just takes a lot of patience to get through a grocery store around here. Navigating crowds in confined aisles results in a frustrating shopping experience. I’m thankful that online grocery shopping is available, but I wish there was a way to make being in the store more pleasant.

The wild kids create a distraction for our shoplifting.

I hate whole extended families making a lunch out of the freecostco sanples. Like they have never tasted blueberries before.
