But it's not like you were waiting on pins and needles with stats like that.
Congratulations!

You can ask the AART at your child’s school.

Received rejection letter today (Sat)
Parent referral from private school to middle school

GBRS 14
WISC-V was 132

I was shocked!

They completely ignore GBRS from private school. I'm not sure why you were shocked.

Wow how empathetic of you.

He also had great grades, recommendations and a good file ... well I guess not good enough.
Oh well.

Good luck to the rest of those waiting!!

But what is point to apply for middle school? He can register for any courses he wants, yes? What is the advantage of AAP designation in middle school?

NP. I don't have a dog in this fight because I don't have a second grader this year, but depending on where you live, some kids can choose different middle schools if they are accepted to AAP. Where we live, if you're non-AAP, you go to Stone MS, whereas AAP kids go to Rocky Run.

NP here

We are zoned for Rachel Carson anyway. The benefit would be taking AAP level Math, science and the like, vs regular or honors. He can choose courses but only up to a certain level. We tried, for example, because he is taking Alegbra 1 in private (6th) and without the AAP, he moves backwards a bit in math.

Are you sure about this? At our MS, they were very clear that there is no "AAP math" -- they just put kids in the class that they are supposed to be in. So, AAP kids might be taking Alg. I in 7th grade, but they could be with other non-AAP kids who also qualified to take Alg. I. Math is mixed AAP and non. Only Sci, Eng., and Soc. Stud. are grouped with only AAP kids in the class.

We have both tests in upper 140s and I'm on pins needles because DC is a shy child and we don't know how the teacher has rated in GBRS. No letter yet.

I'm with you. Mine had a 140 CogAT and a 137 WISC, (as well as absurdly high iready scores) and I'm still worried. I don't have any illusions that the AAP selection process is consistent or fair in any way.

No, ours won't give it out until we have the letters but some AART's gave them out last month/when asked.

I’m the 145 NNAT. 134 Cogat and I was on pins and needles as I am also a teacher and I have had kids that I truly believe should go to AAP and they have been rejected with similar scores. I have no idea what goes on in central selection because once you think you have it figured out, a curveball is thrown. I never thought my child was in until I saw the letter. It’s an unfair system in my opinion. I’ve been teaching in the county for 15 years and could not tell you one way or another if you were in. I really think they play roulette in the office with the packets. That is all I can guess.

So far everyone who posted had acceptances except a private school applicant. Does this mean they do send acceptances before rejections for most part?
