They make about half of what a primary care physician makes. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's a job that requires serious education and possibly huge student loans. It's definitely only job for people who have a passion for it. |
I'm a vet and JUST cleared $100K this year - I'm 48 years old. (I could make more with my own practice, but I'm not interested in that). It's my calling, and I've known I wanted to be a vet since I was a girl. But yeah, not the career if you want to make money. |
Vet school is also INSANELY competitive to get into. I have a niece who is an aspiring vet, just went thru the application process, and so a lot of our family conversations have been on that topic this year. Supposedly it's harder to get into than medical school. |
