Given the number of deadbeat dads, why don't you get wages garnished from the beginning?

My only issue with garnishing wages is that it can take awhile to catch up and for the direct deposit request to go through.

This is a huge issue. My husband used to pay a bit early to make sure it was there on the 1st of the month. His ex insisted on a garnishment. He didn't care as it was easier as he didn't have to deal with her anymore and it would take a week or so for her to get it as there was always a lag. For months, she'd call screaming at him and he'd tell her she needs to call child support office as the money has been garnished so there is nothing he can do. Its on her once the money is taken from him. She tried to remove the garnishment but he didn't agree. It made life so much better not dealing with her on the check (which he paid every month/on time/in full so there was no reason to complain).
