Sort of like how House Republicans voted 50 times to repeal Obamacare (until this month when they had the actual power to do it and were then too scared to act.)

Sometimes you have to do what is right, even if the odds for success are slight. I'm a Republican in Maryland who didn't vote for Raskin, but I thank him for this action.

Did you vote for Trump or Clinton?

I couldn't bring myself to vote for either one, so I voted Libertarian.
I did vote for Raskin's Republican opponent Dan Cox.
And Trump's childish tweets make me worry that the leader of the United States might be mentally unstable. So I support Raskin's proposal to create a Congressional oversight commission, even though I disagree with Raskin on almost everything else.

Gotcha. Thanks for the response.

More desperation by those on the left. First, a failed recount. Then, blame it on Russia tampering with our election. When that didn’t pan out, the impeachment talk began. And, actually, that continues although it has died down somewhat. Then, accusing Trump of collusion with Russia. As that scenario becomes increasingly difficult to defend, calls for obstruction. Now, we have a Congressman calling on Congress to vote him as “unfit.”
Can’t wait what desperate plan next week will bring.

Do you really believe that Donald Trump is fit for the office of President of the United States??

Makes no difference. He won the election. Come 2020 the voters can reject him if they think he is unfit.

What if he did have a medical exam and they diagnosed dementia? You're ok with him in office until 2020? No matter what?

Attacking the duly elected president undermines democracy itself. You don't like legit paid operatives or political hacks doing it but, you'd support a medical coup de'tat because a IC one failed, the 4th estate's best attempts crashed, and a military one isn't remotely possible.

Karma.

There is no provision for a medical examination in the Constitution and he can just refuse one. If he were really diagnosed with dementia, yes, that would make a difference but from a practical standpoint it will not happen because he will not submit to an evaluation - and I don't see how it can be compelled.

Get used to him being president whether you like it or not. He will not be impeached and he will not be removed from office through the 25th Amendment. The Democrats are so badly screwed up and don't know how to deal with Trump so they resort to nonsensical crap like Raskin's proposal.

To paraphrase Kilgore in Apocalypse Now who said: "I love the smell of napalm in the morning."

"I love the smell of desperation among Democrats who don't know how to deal with Trump"

And to show how little Trump cares about the outcry regarding his tweets about Mika and Joe, he doubled down today with more tweets about them. What you guys don't seem to grasp is that if anyone gets into the muck with Trump he will come out ahead - it happened right through the primaries and in the presidential election. The media and Democrats can fume about it but it will not make a difference.

Raskin can go fly a kite ..........

Were you also a Republican when Harry Reid and the Democrat senate didn't pass a budget for five years?

Wait, what? When was there no federal budget for five years? Did the federal government shut down for 5 years and I missed it?

We all knew Reagan had dementia in his second term and the party in power did not care.

His son also confirmed he saw signs of Alzheimer's while his father was president. He said that he saw the first hints of the disease during his father's re-election campaign in 1984.

Or he can be removed from office before then through impeachment/conviction or the 25th amendment. Or he can resign. Or he can die. All of these things are possible.

That did pan out. It's an acknowledged fact. Even Trump has acknowledged it, in between not acknowledging it.

As for collusion with Russia, and obstruction -- in my opinion, a prudent person would wait for the investigation to finish before concluding that it didn't happen.

Democrats who claim to be the educated, well-informed voters don't seem to grasp a simple basic reality. The Republicans control the House and Senate and Raskin and his cohorts can piss in the wind with all sorts of resolutions but it will not go anywhere without the support of Republicans in Congress.

End of story!

It's not, though. Everything in politics is true only up until the moment it stops being true. That's a simple basic reality.

It will remain true until the Republicans are wiling to join the Democrats in any move and that will not happen in the foreseeable future. Where are you going to find 67 votes in the Senate to remove Trump? You guys are just so irrational - born out of your sheer impotence in stopping Republicans from reversing all that Obama tried to do.

Keep in mind that it's very hard to accurately predict what will happen in the future, given that the future hasn't happened yet. Unexpected things happen all the time.

Yep, you are right ..... we saw that when Trump trounced Hillary in the electoral college vote even though she was expected to win by a landslide.

My point: the unexpected can happen in ways that liberals don't expect.

The unexpected isn't a member of any political party, eh?
