Where are the grocery baggers?

I hate the baggers at the Commissary. Talk about a wasteful jobs program.

The cashier at Wegmans bags after they scan. If they are really busy, they'll put some Helping Hands or Supervisors on bagging. Helping Hands will carry out for you and help load if you need it.

This is why I almost exclusively shop at Harris Teeter now. Incredible customer service.

Which one? I don't find HT employees to be all that helpful. Wegmans, on the other hand....

All are better than Safeway. I used to love it, but the employees there are the worst -- talking on phones and to each other, checking phones while you wait for them to finish and, you know, take your money.

I much prefer to bag my own groceries. I also worked as a cashier for several years during college; I think a stint in some kind of service industry job should be required of everyone.
