How do you prevent your weak-minded child from majoring in something easy?

Psychology from Meathead State will lead to unemployment line, voting for Bernie, and facebooking how unfair the student loan industry is.

Not true. I have a kid at one of the elite schools and Wall Street, SV, consulting firms etc. are turning to CS, engineering, applied math, statistics, physics majors from the top schools including Yale. In fact, MBAs are not really welcomed in SV even for product manager positions. Times are changing!

What percentage of Yale alum have well-connected families?

America continues to favor those who came out of "elite" vaginas.

Bootstraps, my ass.

Probably the best companion degree to those would be education as they could parlay their "passion" degree into teaching. Ultimately if this is the direction they wanted to take, this is an example where I wouldn't support them in choosing a high priced school. A degree like sociology can just as easily be earned at much more affordable places and net the same result in the long run.

This is us too.

Can you get a second job and create a Trust Fund for him. I would make sure that you gift him a house and a steady source of income so that he can survive for the rest of his life. And then teach him to manage and invest his money well. That what matters.
